Our Story

"Resh and I are so excited about sharing our story though this medium, especially since we met on eHarmony, which is an online dating site. Having been on a few dates and not finding a suitable match (shocking, I know 🤔), I was about to cancel my account when a notification popped up. It was Resh saying hello… 'Would you like to respond?' Yep, you are indeed correct…SHE MADE THE FIRST MOVE!" 🙌
"This strong, beautiful and independent woman with an infectious smile wants to talk to me?! She is 'Gujju' and Welsh, how perfect is this! She speaks the mother tongue; enjoys a good beer/whisky; has a love for sheep and is a Formula 1 fan. Tick, tick, tick and tick. My interests were peaked to say the least; I responded in kind, and our wonderfully weird journey began."
“Over the next few months, a series of calls and messages followed as we continued to peak each other’s interest. Through patience and sheer perseverance (also known as begging), 🙄 I eventually got my wish and our first date arrived. Talk about playing hardball, it was the most groundwork I had ever done before a first date. However, to this day, my biggest achievement has been my ability to persuade the love of my life to marry me (and no I did not pay her).”
First Date

"I was in London for 10 days for a Hair and Makeup refresher course, so we arranged our first date to coincide. Suraj, being the gentleman, he offered to pick me up from my hotel lobby. Suraj was late (as always) and walked right passed me. There is me, dressed to the nines, hair on lock, makeup on point, my feet already dying in these new shoes I bought and this m***** WALKS PASSED ME! He was lucky I saw the funny side as I laughed (and cried inside) patiently waiting for this muppet to find his bearings."
"Now I know what you’re all thinking, Reshma and patience? 🤨 Clearly Suraj had already made an impression well before our first date for me to exercise any form of patience and not to whack him over the head for making me wait lol. We went on to enjoy a lovely meal over pleasant conversation and time just flew by. The afternoon turned to evening and ended with multiple whisky’s where we talked until the restaurant closed. From the first moment we met we have made each other laugh and 4 years later we are still laughing today."
The Proposal

“On one hand, Resh loves a surprise but on the other she cannot bare the suspense. Keeping something this big from Resh was not an easy task. Originally, I had arranged for a ‘friend of a friend’ to call Resh and enquire about hair and makeup services for a wedding in the Lake District. In theory, Resh would take on the client, drive up there with her +1 (naturally that would be me. I would bloody hope so anyway) and I would surprise her one morning after breakfast. I had even found the most picturesque setting, accompanied with an undercover photographer to capture the whole moment. It was the perfect plan but one that failed miserably. However as we all know Resh loves a getaway, I was still able to conjure up another cover story and booked a long weekend away. Resh was none the wiser and didn’t have a clue, the cat was still in the bag." 🤫

"Almost everything was in place, just one final piece left - APPROVAL. I set off to Cardiff the night before and met my future father-in-law for a drink and I requested his daughters' hand in marriage. I then made 3 simple requests; a down payment of 7 cows, 10 buffalos and 50 sheep. Oh, and a lift back to the station for his daughter to pick me up and not suspect a thing. Little did I know, Resh was following my train times and smelt something wasn’t quite right. She even called her dad a few times, wondering why he wasn’t home. She picked me up from the station (as if I’d just arrived) and as we got to the house my father-in-law answered the door in his pyjamas, eliminating any suspicion. What. A. Legend!" 🤓

"For the first time in my life I woke up the next morning with butterflies. The photographer was in place and I suggested to Resh that we go for a stroll after breakfast; to which she replied and I quote ‘nob off, it is too cold’. Eventually having got her to comply we set about our morning stroll. We walked along the lake, fed the ducks and took in some breath-taking views as we reminisced a few of our first moments; first date, first trip to Paris, first football match and many more. We walked to the end of the jetty and then came the return of the butterflies’ part 2… I remember being petrified of dropping the ring in the lake. Resh took the chance to take photos of the beautiful surroundings and as she turned around, I dropped to one knee, pulled out the ring (Very. Carefully) as her face began to gleam…”
“To the girl who’d laugh at me when I fall, but help me up and whisper “it’s okay, I still love you. Will You Marry Me!” 💍

“Yes, yes …A thousand times YES! 😍 It was a magical day and one that I will cherish forever. The morning proposal right through to a lovely dinner; the little surprises and videos from our nearest and dearest, champagne on the balcony under the starry night sky and to top it off a shooting star - it was simply perfect. However, we could have done without the red shoes!
"We got straight into planning the wedding. Having viewed dozens of venues, Suraj and I set our hearts on the beautiful Froyle Park Country Estate in Hampshire. A gorgeous 16th century manor surrounded by 80 acres of rolling Hampshire countryside, the fresh country air and sheep! SOLD!"
